OK, maybe more than just a touch lol :). It's a combination of two things really: first, I have been drawing with my tablet so much lately. Second, bringing home from my grandma's house lots and lots of my childhood books and reading them with my kids (and also without them I must admit :) ) kind of put me into this storybook mood. And I guess that's a good thing. I am enjoying myself so much with these drawings, not to mention that my kids enjoy them even more! :)

This was a long and difficult process as there is so much talent out there! When I started this call I was only looking for 3-4 girls and I ended up with 9 yes, NINE talented artists!!!
I also want to thank EVERYONE who applied, I really, really appreciate your taking the time to send an application. I have receive over 30 letters and although I wish I could accept all of them I feel it is beyond my abilities to manage such a large team. So please don't feel bad if you haven't made it. I had to use all sorts of criteria to help me make a decision and please don't think that not being good enough was one of them! ... a CU pack this time. It's a pack of 6 layered patterns for commercial use, really easy to recolor in any program.

This is a set of 6 commercial use layered patterns designed for digital scrapbook designers in both PSD and PNG format.

All the component elements of the patterns are on their own layer for easy recoloring. I have also included PNG files of every patterns as well as individual PNGs for every component part of the design (layer) - this way you can still recolor every layers even if you are not using PS.

Long time no see right? :) Well, a lot has been going on around here lately. A while back I have received the most interesting and unexpected offer: to become an exclusive designer to a store that I had admired for a long time. What store is that? Well, I can only tell you that I will be opening there on February 18th ;)

We have been away for over a month. What started as a two weeks gettaway, turned into a five weeks vacation :) . We travelled about 300 miles North, to a remote small town in the mountains, one that I have known and loved since I was a kid. It is still just as lovely as I remembered it. A lot colder than I am now used to, but so unbelievably peaceful. It's also a wonderful place if you enjoy hiking - as we do :). Often times we go way off the beatten track and stumble upon the most wonderful scenaries. I will share with you all today a few photos, raw, unprocessed, just the way the camera took them:

I have just added to my store at DigitalScrapn (and it will soon be available at Digital Design Den as well) this nice set of quick pages made with "You're So Lovely". I just loved making them and I am so happy with the way they turned out!
They are 10 quickpages, but the preview only shows 9. The truth is that I liked the neat and symetrical look of this preview and I just couldn't fit the 10th in. So think of it as a surprise bonus :)

CU Freebie - With My Very First CU Pack

Here is my very first CU pack - 22 shells and rocks.
There is a funny story behind it. My husband picked these up and brought them home a while ago. I was angry at first and scolded him - we have a one year old who "tastes" everything she can get her little hands on and a 2 year old who could have gotten hurt because of the sharp edges that these shells had. So out they went. Anyway, a few days ago I was searching for some sea/beach elements and it hit me: the shells! And the pack of 22 scanned and extracted shells and rocks was "only" hours of painstaking extraction away. Anyway, I was very pleased with the way they turned out - and my husband goes: 'Do I deserve a kiss or what?'. I said to him: 'actually I will scold you again, because you should have brought more!' (I'm so bad, I just had to have the last word on this one :) )

Blessings in Disguise or How Can a Mean Comment Make Your Day Better

I have a story to tell you today. It has a moral in the end so, hopefully, if you read it, you will find I haven't wasted your time.
I have received the other day a comment on my blog that got me really depressed at the time. It was posted soon after I had put my 'Sunset' kit in the "Happy Place" at DST. My first reaction was to show it to my husband, send it to a friend to ask for an objective opinion and then delete it. But I realize now that I should have left it where it was. Here is the comment so that you know what I am talking about:

hun seem your kit to win at DST, let me put this nicely as I can...
Your not yet talented enough to have your kit up for a win.
Stick to giving them away free on your blog, till you can keep up with that have tons more talent.

It was a very mean and aggressive comment, but for many reasons I want to thank this person for posting it:

1. It made me leave the computer and go straight to my husband and children and give them a big hug. It turned into a wonderful, warm family moment and we all benefited from it.

2. At first I felt really discouraged, so I reached out and asked for an objective opinion from people I had just met. They were very warm and supportive - and I realized that I have found new friends in what used to be perfect strangers.

3. It reminded me that we should always pray for those who do us injustice. It will make you a better person and it will always help them.

4. Paradoxically, after the first shock wore off, it actually gave me a little bit more confidence as a designer.

I am very grateful for all of the above and this is why I have to honestly say to the anonymous who left that message "Thank you!".

To all of you who are reading this and feel overwhelmed with discouragement or sadness - remember to look for the silver lining, 'cause it's there! And often times you benefit more from having to deal with troubles than from not having any.
